Martha "Marty" Marlene (Leonard) Dowdy

   
     Martha Marlene "Marty" Dowdy, age 80, of Byrdstown, TN passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017.

     Marty Dowdy was born July 27, 1936 to Fred and Mary Hetzner. She was raised by Bud and Velma Leonard. She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker.

     She is survived by her husband, Cecil Dowdy. They married in 1958. She is survived by three children-a son Larry Dowdy (Tricia); two daughters, Lori Tallent and Lynn Johnson (Wayne). Four grandchildren-Brian T. Guffey (Christy), Daniel Hunter (Magan), Jessica T. Conner (Cornelius), and Tyler Dowdy. Five great grandchildren-Kara, Dayton and Max Hunter, Woodrow Conner, and Cole Nuetzman. Two brothers, Joesph Hetzner and John Hetzner. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

     She is preceded in death by parents Fred and Mary Hetzner and Bud and Velma Leonard. Three sisters-Rachel Correll, Geraldine Dibbern, and Wanda Gladden and one brother Fred Hetzner.

     Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at at 2:00 P.M. from the Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Andy Cope and Bro. Jack Winningham officiating. Burial in the Edgefield Cemetery.
