Betty Jean (Groce) Martin

     Betty Jean (Groce) Martin, age 94 of Byrdstown, TN passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at her residence.

     She was born October 30, 1929 in Byrdstown, TN to Granville Armster 'G.A.' Groce and Bertie (Reagan) Groce. She was a member of First Christian Church Byrdstown, a former garment factory employee and homemaker. 

     Betty was survived by (2) daughters: Karen Smith and husband: Lynn, Barbara Smith and husband: Butch; (1) son: Phillip Martin and wife: Shellie; (9) grandchildren: Tony Smith, Chris Smith, Martin Smith, Lori Smith, Matthew Smith, Micah Smith, Kara Ray, Lee Martin and Ashley Martin; (14) great-grandchildren and (7) great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents: G.A. and Bertie Groce; husband: Forest Martin; (1) daughter: Jeanette Martin; (2) sisters: Olene Martin and Edna Booher; (4) brothers: Charles Groce, Carl Groce, Bob Groce and George Groce. 

     Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Rick Cross officiating. The burial was in Vann's Branch Cemetery.

     Serving as pallbearers were Tony Smith, Chris Smith, Matthew Smith, Micah Smith, Carson Smith, Grayson Smith, Lee Martin, Brian Gibson, Grant Martin, Martin Smith and Ethan Geesling.

     The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Chapel.
