Ronnie Curtis Matheny

     Ronnie Curtis Matheny, age 72 of Byrdstown, TN passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025 at his residence.

     He was born September 28, 1953 in Livingston, TN to William Curtis Matheny and Anna Mae (Flowers) Matheny. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Byrdstown and a log buyer.

     Ronnie was survived by his wife: Diane (Rich) Matheny; (1) daughter: Pyretta Elder; (1) son: William Matheny and wife: Amanda; (5) grandchildren: Malli, Camryn and Layla Elder, Finley and Hattie Claire Matheny; mother: Anna Mae Matheny; sister-in-law: Becky Matheny. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

      He was preceded in death by his father: Curtis Matheny; (1) brother: Donnie Matheny; father and mother-in-law: Bill and Faye Rich. 

      Funeral services were held Monday, October 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM from First Baptist Church of Byrdstown, with Bro. Rick Cross, Jack Winningham and Butch Smith officiating. The burial was in Smyrna Cemetery.

     Serving as pallbearers were Andrew Flowers, Owen Flowers, Jeff Rich, Tanner Rich, Nicky Rich and Robin Cummings. 

     Serving as honorary pallbearers were David Rich, Butch Smith, Matt Smith, Chris Smith, Jack Winningham and Larry Mason. 

     The family will receive friends Monday from 9:00 AM until the service at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Byrdstown. 

     Memorial contributions in memory of Ronnie can be given to First Baptist Church of Byrdstown building fund or the Gideons International.
