In Loving Memory of Richard "Dick" Petro
Richard "Dick" Petro passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday evening at the age of 98. A proud veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, Richard lived a long and meaningful life rooted in service, dedication, and love.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Shirley Thornton; cherished grandchildren, Kim Pemberton and Wendy Hand; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Racquel Hawley, Sterling Pemberton, Jessica Williams, Jarrod Hand, and Riley, Logan, Ethan, and Peyton McDerment. His legacy also lives on through his great-great-grandchildren: Lochlyn and River Hawley, Sylvie Rae and Rhett Hand, and Alastar McDerment.
Richard was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 68 years, Billie Petro; his children, Linda Stetler and Richard "Dickie" Petro; his brother, Esthel Petro; and his grandson, Billy Richard McDerment.
A long-time resident of West Lebanon, Indiana, Richard was known for his strong work ethic, unwavering commitment to his family, and deep involvement in his community. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and love that will be remembered by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at West Lebanon Cemetery on Saturday, May 24th at 11:30 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate a life well lived.
