Lonzie Edward Dowdy

     Lonzie Edward Dowdy, age 87 of Byrdstown, TN passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Pickett Care and Rehab.

     He was born November 5, 1936 in Byrdstown, TN to Shirdy Dowdy and Mary Ann (Pittman) Dowdy. He was of the Baptist faith, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War, and was a former HVAC and refrigerator repairman.  

     Lonzie was survived by wife: Diana (Anderson) Dowdy; (1) daughter: Dawn Davison and husband: Steve; (1) stepdaughter: Donna Hammons and husband: David; (1) son: Drew Dowdy; (2) stepson: David Linder, Michael Linder and wife: Lisa; (4) grandchildren; (11) great-grandchildren; (2) sisters: Phyllis Whitt and Joretta Jones. 

     He was preceded in death by his parents: Shirdy and Mary Ann Dowdy; (4) sisters: Kay Leslie, Clara Boyer, Edna Cross and Loxie Dowdy; (3) brothers: Virgil, Hershel and Cecil Dowdy. 

     Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM from Brown Funeral Chapel with Andrew Green and Bro. Travis Simpson officiating. The burial was in Edgefield Cemetery with military honors.

     Serving as pallbearers were Andrew Green, Evan Weeks, David Clouse, Michael Reagon, Mark Reagon and Merle Reagon. 

     The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service at 2:00 PM.
