Gib Taylor

     Gilbert Lester (Gib) Taylor, age 95 of Byrdstown, TN passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Overton County Health and Rehab Center.

     Gib was born August 25, 1927 in Byrdstown, TN to Dewey Taylor and Edith (Cope) Taylor. He was a member of Byrdstown First Christian Church, a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army, the vice president and training director at American States Insurance.

     Gib was survived by his daughter Marianne Taylor and her husband Stan Gilbert, son Jeff Taylor, and son Chuck Taylor and his wife Georgeann. He is also survived by grand-children Reece Taylor Gilbert, Jesse Taylor Gilbert, Cameron Taylor, Jackson Taylor and Kate Curtis; and siblings Ann Norrod, Sue Howell, Don Taylor and Carl Taylor. The family would also like to acknowledge Fontella Storie for her companionship and care in Gib’s later years.

     Gib was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elwanda Meyer, Jerry, Edmund, Virginia, and Herman Taylor.

     Funeral services were be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM from Byrdstown First Christian Church with Bro. Jerry Ridge officiating. Burial was in Smyrna Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Hull-York Chapter 5 DAV and American Legion Post #137 – Jamestown, TN.

     The family will receive friends Friday, April 7 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Chapel.
