Gale Duane Copeland

     Gale Duane Copeland, age 90 of Byrdstown, TN passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at his residence.

     He was born September 23, 1934 in Byrdstown, TN to Peter Turney Copeland and Esther (Amonett) Copeland. He was a member of Smyrna Church, a livestock dealer, auctioneer, real estate broker, and a board member for People's Bank & Trust.

     Gale was survived by his wife: Eva (Mitchell) Copeland; (3) daughters: Diane Copeland, Susan Parlo and husband: Bob, Debbie Elder and special friend: Al Middleton; (6) grandchildren: Brittney Minkin (Ivan), Jaclyn Parlo (Charlotte), Bryan Elder (Brittany), Nicholas Elder, Nathan Elder (Lyndsey), Blaire Hodgin (Zack); (8) great-grandchildren; brother: Jerry Copeland and wife: Linda. Also survived by other family members and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents: Peter and Esther Copeland; (6) sisters: Mary Lou Chiles, Maurine Holt, Hazel Reagan, Kathleen Reagan, Sylvia Sells and Doris Neal; (2) brothers: Turney Copeland and Delano Copeland. 

     Funeral services were held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM from Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Randy Tompkins and Bro. Keith Pryor officiating. The burial was in Smyrna Cemetery. 

     Serving as pallbearers were Bryan Elder, Nicholas Elder, Nathan Elder, Zack Hodgin, James Sells, James Mitchell, Jerry Mitchell and Steven Cooksey. 

     Serving as honorary pallbearers were Charles Mitchell and People's Bank & Trust board members. 

     Memorial contributions in memory of Gale can be given to Smyrna Church or Smyrna Cemetery Fund. 

     The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM.
