David Cope

     John David Cope, age 76 of Cookeville, TN and formerly of Byrdstown, TN passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025 at his residence.

     He was born November 13, 1948 in Livingston, TN to John Curtis Cope and Vannie Ethel (Huddleston) Cope. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army, a farmer and mail carrier. 

     David was survived by wife: Mary Faye (Whittenburg) Cope; (3) sisters: Karen Jones and husband: Rick, Sharon Scott and husband: Gerald, Phyllis Anderson and husband: Milton; (1) brother: Doyle Cope. Also survived by other family members and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents: Curtis and Vannie Cope.

     Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM from Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Andy Brewster officiating. The burial was in Story Cemetery with military honors provided by Hull-York DAV Chapter 5 and American Legion Post 137.

     Serving as pallbearers were Charles Whittenburg, David Jones, Nathan Smith, Nicholas Smith, Tyler Smith and Jathan Smith. 

     The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Chapel.
