Eugene "Gene" Cope

     Eugene "Gene" Cope, age 86, of Hillcrest Dr. in Byrdstown, TN, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was was born October 30, 1932 in Albany, KY to James Alexander Cope and Maude (Dennis) Cope. Gene was a past Babcock and Wilcox employee and a Veteran in the Army during Korea. He lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio and the past 20 years in Pickett County, TN.

     Gene is survived by his Wife: Martha Louise (Claborn) Cope; (1) Daughter: Elaine Gainer; (3) Step-Daughters: Debbie Bilbrey, Lisa Cummings, and Pam Richardson; (1) Son: Eugene Steven Cope and Wife: Diane; (2) Step-Sons: Craig Richardson and Danny Richardson; (2) Brothers: Leon Cope and Wife: Jan, Wonza Cope and Wife: Sue; (4) Grandsons: Stevie, Eric, Sean, and Adam. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his Parents: James Alexander Cope and Maude Cope; First Wife: Martha Cope; (2) Daughters: Donna Sullivan and Jeannie Dowdle;(5) Brothers: Chat, John L., Willie Dee, James and Howard Cope; (1) Sister: Gladys Cope.; (1) Granddaughter: Jamie Stinson

     Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. from the Brown Funeral Chapel. Bro. Jeff Amonett, Bro. Rick Cross, and Bro. Craig Cope will be officiating and burial will be in the East Liberty Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.
