Billy Gayle Barber

     Billy Gayle Barber, age 80, of Byrdstown, TN, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1937 in Albany, KY to the late Herlan G. Barber and Nancy O. (Pemberton) Barber.

     Gayle was a former employee of the Pickett County School System. He retired in 1992, putting in over 30 years of service. He was a member of Bloomington Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, restoring antique cars, watching Jeopardy with Oleta and spending time with his grandchildren.

     Survivors include his Wife of almost 60 years: Oleta (Holt) Barber ; (2) Daughters: Deborah Schneider and Husband: John , Nancy Smith and Husband: Brooks ; (1) Son: Jared Barber and Wife: Julia ; (8) Grandchildren: Jessica, Erica, Patty, Shelby, Lukas, Meredith, Dylan and Caroline. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his Parents: Herlan and Nancy Barber ; (4) Brothers: Lester, Earl, Freelan and Dannie Barber.

     Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from the Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve McClure officiating and burial in the Amonett Cemetery.
