Wayne Ellis Williams

     Wayne Ellis Williams, age 75 of Pall Mall, TN passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 at his residence.

     He was born August 28, 1948 in Chanute, TN to Webster Williams and Nell (Groce) Williams. He was a member, deacon, song leader and Sunday school teacher at Byrdstown First Baptist Church. Wayne was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. 

     Wayne was survived by his wife: Brenda (Poston) Williams; (1) daughter: Wendy Byrd and husband: Gregory; (1) son: Wade Williams; (5) grandchildren: Caleb, Matthew, Harley, Alexa and Ashley; (1) great-grandchild: Jaycee; (1) sister: Sue Williams. Also survived by other family members and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents: Webster and Nell Williams; (2) sisters: Faye Stewart and Dean Wortham. 

     Funeral services were held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM from Byrdstown First Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Amonett, Bro. Rick Cross and Dr. Bill Taylor officiating. The burial was in Chanute-Campbell Cemetery with military honors provided by Hull-York Chapter 5 DAV.

     Serving as pallbearers were Slugo Gray, Pete Rich, James Rich, William Matheny, Tanner Rich and Matt Smith. 

     Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jack Winningham, John Mullins, David Rich, Butch Smith, Robin Cummings, Ronnie Matheny, Jeff Rich and Chris Smith. 

     Memorial contributions in memory of Wayne can be made to Byrdstown First Baptist Church.

     The family visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Chapel.

     The public visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Chapel. 

     The body will lie in state Friday from 8:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM, at Byrdstown First Baptist Church.
